My Ahmedabad walkathon adventures!!

My Ahmedabad walkathon adventures!!
I m writing almost after six months or so after visiting d place.I wanted to write as soon as I came back, but had to leave for an unofficial tour of 15 days.after which it was back to work session and I m the most laziest to pick up after such a long gap!!Honestly I wont lyk to pick up my notes during xams, cause again big gap of 12 months!!
It was a college trip,so no doubt ‘101 rules’,to break!!
A city which was familiar to me just for its soaring temperature until I watched a slide show presented by Ar.Yatin Pandya, few months before I left for trip made me excited to witness a ‘shifting culture’(its my term for a changing canvas in a city square which houses the livelihood of the ordinary city people)that makes it colourful, lively and a statement every second, that says ‘live on man!’.
Well I state it again!I gues minus temperature(ahem!it ws normal @ 38celcius!),it’s a place which any given day would say me,’live on’..
It was for a project work,on the top of it 10 days away from home, which definitely made my  mind inevitably click d ‘Y’ key!Since quoting d exact date takes away d excitement(I ve forgotten and again I need to leave this in half to search!!)some night trip started with me standing near the door of our compartment till my parents vanished into the crowd. It was day1,since it was the perfect weather when I woke up after a sleep-in-train,I sum how managed to read chaduranga’s collection to end dat day!I read in sum story, its indeed irksome wen the writer describes every stone and street while describing a place.Lemme cut it short,n say dat I reached ahmedabad!
The true day1,revealed its real colors once I stepped out of my a.c.room,it ws beginning to rise by 27-35 by afternoon.but mornings are the best, cause except for the tweets, here I mean  birds! The world sleeps in the bosom of silence, yes, indeed life starts on streets a li’l past 7.30a.m!Cause ahmedabad ppl know that stayin in India its our birth right to follow IST(indian standard timings!).I m an early riser(accidentally!).Staying in a 3 star hotel is really good uptil rooms, but when it cums to fud,its d typical English breakfast, which had I dared to eat would have been a sin,to b more precise,my mom says it wud b lyk,’bakasurana hottege are kaasina majjige!!”,for which I cumpltly agree wid my  mom.Inevitably it made me step out of the room,at 6.45a.m and gave me a chance to explore a small part of d city.I started randomly and reached a square. It was a scene which was pretty familiar to me,a scene repeated as many times in our bollywood, hoard of pigeon, but its was a beautiful sight.
I was able to sight a small ‘kaka chai angdi’ and ordered for a chai, and enjoyed it sipping it in a cumpltly filmy style. But it was d stares dat wer made me gulp down chai soon n march!after all d main course was still remaining,On further enquiry I was led to a place cald, lucky;s restaurant, ate’ maska bun’,for what it is famous for, a restaurant that is built around graves,at least 22 bright green coloured tombs of various shapes and sizes exist in this restaurant perhaps the reaturant exists amidst these tombs!! Trunks of trees shoot right out of the ceiling.
gravy amidst graves!!

Most singular experiences started happeningJ
Was yearning to hav a look at the new 5 n 10rs coins, perhaps, the owner gave me change almost evriday during my stay a new 10 n 5 rs coins!!
Wel,as an architecture student, and also as an interst as part of my other disastrous  faculties viz,p.graphy and writing..if dey might b cald so provided me with immense pleasure.the teen darwaza area,r d main market area, was realy enchanting.buzzing with life,d love garden to be honest night-in-gal(z)e,the ppl of course..

Travelling in a 2nd class train to jumping into an autorikshaw at 11.30p.m,to bumping into a DGP whose face had a big question mark(I didn’t know whether it was an exclamation!!due to less light from the street light besides which he was standing with his fellowmen in search of his ‘celebrity guest’!! to stares and glares that accompanied me every morning on my walkathon to explore another canvas, the crazy encounters are endless that did add a dash of colour and spirit to my lifeJ
The early morning walkathon sessions(as early as 6.30a.m)did make my fellow claaasmates sharing my room think a li’l weird about me!!I guess it was unusual for them to go out in an unknown place alone and as early as that hour of a day!
I was determined however that a trip to a new place would definitely be incomplete without  tasting exclusive local cuisine..n gujju food,I wud hav been a fool if I had not tasted it,besides I hav a sweet tooth..so indeed all conditions favoured me;)
So after bumping into the dgp,who of course was courteous to send his aide in finding me a gud restaurant near by,which of course turned out to be an all exclusive non vegetarian one!!at dat tym I dint hav much experience if I may daresay to sit with food explorers!!so made my way to a nearby store to ask for guidance, about a place where I can find exclusive gujju meals.n viola I found one amiable old man,who told me the names of 2 famous restaurants, but was some 2kms away from the place where I was put up,but it dint deter me the least.he also specifically tol me to ask for a particular sweet, pardon me of course I hav forgotten d name.@ 9.30pm, I did catch an auto, well if I wer to go I wud hav gone in a bus,but my roommates had gone out for shopping who told me dey l b back anytym!!n I had d key!!
So did catch an auto, did go to dose restaurants,to my utter shock dere except for  unlimited meals u get nthng, but as I said earlier I was fixed on tasting gujrathi meal!!n yum wer d sweets, was worth cumin so far!!wen I was back to my hotel after a sumptuous meal I was for a shock to c my rum mates earlier dan me tasting ‘d roti’….
But still excitement was remaining for I was to attend the night city visit..a peculiar one..organised by some city group,2 times a day..since d morning one was over..d 11’o clock walk was remaining…a design walk..rather that would take us through the city streets, bazaar area, havelis, etc.,the best way to a exlore a city would hav been mine..had I got a few others(it was in the requirements list!!) to accompany me at 11pm which was a gud 4-5 kms away from my place.thats how I missed out on the real fun of exploration but never the less the walkathon sessions where really filled with enriching experiences, hearing about the city from my hotel watchmen to autodrivers, meeting young ladies with their faces covered to escape form tan(it was strange for ‘me’),to eating exclusive gujrathi meal and picking up a few lines of gujrathi.. J”khem che”

guns n roses

Guns  n  Roses

Kashmir and khauff

A valley that’s been created by The Almighty with finest elements and with utmost care..

A valley with lush green of pines, fir, birch and laced with small white streams, coronated with the milky sky to be the most beautiful thing on earth, which compels anyone to utter those beautiful lines,
‘Agar jannat kahi hai,toh yahi hai, yahi hai, yahi hai..’

The endless precautionary advises, news flash about death toll does create an inexplicable effect on mind, which on entering the valley,we do experience it.There is a beauty that is hard to describe through words and also a silence, unending silence, that’s better to be termed ,’khauff’!Its hard to imagine that a valley like this that also has hoardes of pine, has in its bosom a lot of insane people(it’s a shame to call them humans!)who in turn start chanting verses of terror about azaadi and what not the whole day.Every ‘chowk’ is just a square of terror with our dutiful poilicemen watching from a distance, the full on action film!
I guess the beautiful girls in the traditional kashmiri dresses, the juicy apples, the smell of kobab(well this is just a piece of info!),kesari, pashmina, pahadis along with guns did make my  trip a memorable one!!

Walking bare foot(to be honest it was trekking!!)till glaciers(just on the other side of the mountain that has amaranth) did make my trekking debut memorable ,and started the infamous riots which like our the celebrity B-town relationships on-off status recurred.Riots,as old as me,deaths as common as curfews and peace as rare as ‘rozi roti’!!

Despite terror, khauff and bliss, the valley of Kashmir reminds me of a line from an English movie(definitely do not remember the name!)like ‘its all a part of the charm’!
The terror, khauff and bliss make the valley as news in paper, people who are used to whole scenario think terror is as native to Kashmir as its natural bliss.I hope the next generation can just have sleep, play, snow, the smell of kobab, the juicy apples and PEACE!!

namKannada!

“Kannada ene kunidaaduvudennede, kannada ene kivi nimiruvudu..”lines written by kuvempu on the ‘vishwa lipigala rani’(QUEEN OF WORLD SCRIPTS-vinoba bhave) is just apt as the third oldest language of World,as old as 2000 years is resident and alive in her full glory, which has the distinction of being 99.99% perfect -logically and scientifically, having a script of its own, which made a foreigner Kittel to learn, understand, appreciate and initiate the urge to make his contribution through a ‘shabda kosha’(dictionary),which no other Indian language can boast!
When " Kaviraja Maarga was written . . ." kaaveriyinda , godaavarivaregirpa ... " by Amogha Varsha Nripathunga, English was incradle & Hindi was not born at all.Till date seven kannadigas have won jnaanapeetha awards and number of literature awards KUVEMPU has got,is highest among any Indian authors.Ragale Saahithya can be seen only in kannada which is of a rare and different kind of literature.Chandassu (shatpadis) out pared all other languages.
Vachana, keerthane, devaranama, champu, grammar, poetry, prosody,ragale,tripadi,sangatya,shatpadi..the list goes on of the ways kannada has been explored and enriched by generations of story tellers, grammarians, poets, dramatists, novelists and what not but of all who breath and live kannada..

namma bengaluru

My take on Bangalore v/s other metros:
Bombay in a way sounds too colonial,so they changed it to Mumbai and started calling themselves mumbaikaars, well as far as I know its been years since amchi Mumbai took birth. It has got a distinct flavour of meetha and the raw tadka.
From slumdog to Mumbai meri jaan,Mumbai has been everywhere almost everywhere. Delhi-6 can by all means called as a pure passionate journey recorded with that composite subtleness in each and every frame by rakeysh omprakash mehra,I don’t like calling it a tribute. The celebrated havelis or rosgullas or guru dutt sahab or the prince have made howdah To be heard in the far south and east.It is not like the only land mass with so many stars but stars have made that land mass to be heard,to be known by us!It took years for us to realize that it is indeed namma bengaluru from,Bangalore, well I wonder how far v the youngistan of bengaluru think of it as namma cool ooru! All across the globe veterans say but one thing metamorhosis of ‘the city’ that has been theirs since years.Every Monday in Deccan Herald a column appears on the colonial style houses in Bangalore. Honestly speaking its in a way tribute to the good old days of Bangalore(Bangalore or Bengaluru but it should be namma ooru).Residents of those places speak about the beautiful weather which used to exist, the no such hustle bustle of vehicles as of now or the mushroom like malls,in true sense the flavour of Bangalore.we are losing our most celebrated m.g.road in the name of development!well I don’t know if there is someone who does not miss m.g.road.Bombay became Mumbai but the amchi feel! Has absolutely not disappeared as in bengaluru.
My brother belongs to the techie crowd in Bangalore.A person from Kerala but born in Karnataka,he has not made a single attempt to learn kannada!no none of my northi classmates have given a try?westerners love the culture of east, has anyone compelled them to do so,no it’s the respect that has made them appreciate. That respect arises from the fact that its deep rooted in us,which is so pure and strong that its power makes anyone to bow down so is in the case of namma bengaluru, our samskruthi and namma kannada.we got the classical status but we have not yet achieved it .Films or books on namma Bengaluru will then come into picture lets first become in true sense Bengaloorigaru, then after we are in no means behind in the race of metros.

childhood

childhood a fairytale kind of life for some of us and rags, blanket of night sky for some!!
chubby cheeks saw the twinkling of stars when humpty dumpty were sitting on the wall and jack jill went to fetch water, all the 2 n 3 candles blowing party got over and dats our childhood, our childhood!!
for my parents r for many of our parents subhadra kumari chauhans 'mere bachpan' or bannada tagadina tutturi brings dem d lively days of mara koti aata, aluguli mane, their first stint with colour photo, the excitement of jaatre, tent cinema and the long struggle of stealing of naalku aane from appajis jubba..moole angadi peppermint and the royal treatment of maylaari masala dosa..utter dissapoinment when rains washed their dream castles and forgetting them in a minute or two and making paper boats and seeing their vessel sailing in the small streams and their jubiliant faces..alas!all memories, sweet remembrances..
the site of thorana and smell of obbattu and the very positive energy around with new clothes and lakshmi pataki and bhoo chakra and the grandest of all festivals, deepawali was a cynosure for those li'l eyes.visiting everyhouse in d colony including murthy mama, shantakka, kamala chikkamma for the sake of kadubu during ganesha chaturthi and those li'l devilish acts were where life used to live for a while before fading away gradually..
the fondest of all memories is d 'raja maja' with ajja, ajji with a icing on the cake as ajja announces the grand arrival of the king of all fruits 'maavu' for dinner..
the gud old days, everyone say dat!
i dont think so dat any1 of us had a chance of dating any of dose grannys bed timefairies and queens..the nuclear family and the blame game starts!!if at all wehad gone for a date would'nt minnie and daisy feel bad..
zindagi main thodi life dats what childhood d pyaara bachpan and sundara baalya means!!
